Default Re: Conti Motions

Well I had a pair on the loan Bandit and put 2,500 miles on them over the worst of winter so thought I'd say what I found. The rear was brand new and the front was about 2/3rds worn.

All in all a pretty unspectacular tyre, not so good, but not so bad. They are pretty neutral handling and they are okay for normal riding in the dry, but start to push on and they lack grip, especially the front. They take a while to warm up especially in the cold of winter and are quite hard and a bit slippery until they warm up. In the wet they are okay, but they do like to move about a bit, again okay for normal riding but nothing more. They're best attribute is their stability under heavy loads, great with a pillion/luggage. I've returned the loan bike so I can't comment on longevity, but after 2500 boring upright winter miles they haven't squared, the rear had loads of tread left and the front was still good.

They are more touring than sport touring and act like a tyre of their age and price bracket, so that's fair enough. Personally I wouldn't buy them myself as I feel that the PR3/4s are worth the extra money. However if I was short on money or had to ride another bike with these fitted I wouldn't mind.
