These days you won't get anything through without any extra charges, as the Chancellor wants as much dough as he can get. However I bet most of that was not Customs Duty/VAT but Post Office handling charges?

Free trade? We've never had a Free Trade deal with the US, in fact they restrict more imports from outside the USA. Only EU stuff is free from any extra charges, and we're benefitting from the strong pound.

If we had free trade, we'd have no industry left, subsidised Chinese steel has been dumped on UK markets, causing the collapse of the industry. Which is the point of having Customs Duties, to protect home industries & businesses.

Sorry, but I get ticked off when people moan about Customs/Vat charges. If you don't like it, don't buy from outside the EU.
