Default Re: Vintage film cameras

Right think I have sorted the Ensign. I used a piece of ground glass* which isn't easy but at least gives a sensible image, and got it collimated. I am wondering if the split circle screen is really only good for wider apertures than even f4, as the circle was starting to darken wide open at f3.8, and 8ft using that came out at 10ft using the ground glass. I noticed it was difficult on other MF cameras, but at 6x6 it seems to have been good enough from both your and my pictures. Afterwards I also remembered a suggestion of fixing an image to the film plan and projecting it onto a wall through the lens, might give that a go next time but I think you'd need the light source to be a long way away. I have one roll of HP5 (or is it FP4?) 125ISO left so might give it a go.

* nicked out of a focus screen back for a half plate camera, bought by mistake. Must get an actual piece of ground glass.
