I've got a Scorpion Carbon Fibre Race can on my SV and I had to cut off the pipe. The race can also comes with a smaller link pipe so that you can fit the orginal can for those MOT moments. Bear in mind that if you get a road legal can you don't need to fit the original back, even for MOTs.
As a rule of thumb you always have to cut the original exhaust to fit a new can on the SV, unless it is a full system.
