I did the same, however I jacked the tank up by half an inch to get a bit more airflow, and that really allows the induction noise out

I found that the bike would occasionally 'cough' or 'burp' when closing the throttle rapidly, like you do around town, especially when the revs were a bit high (say 8k+). Whilst some of these could be amusing, some were quite violent, so you need to be a bit careful
The 'snorkle' from the SV1000 is twice the size as the SV650, ie. 4 channels as opposed to 2, so I've put one of these in for winter - I was concerned that with the tank raised & the snorkle out, the air filter is exposed to rain/water/crap, and might give rise to trouble.
I found a dog end sitting on the filter at one stage

, although in hindsight I'm not sure if it was sucked in, or carefully placed there by some joker in Frith Street
You shouldn't need to get the ignition re-mapped, but it's probably worth doing so if you've got other additions like end cans, etc

I'm going to do this when the weather gets a bit better
