My opinion of Jamie Oliver has been changed totally by these progs. I must confess I had no time for him, but this issue is something he believes in with a passion, and all respect to him.

The most basic thing as demonstrated clearly in the progs so far to anyone with half a brain cell is that you can't just sail in and change the menu because kids being what they are will just rebel against it.

First you've got to understand the psychology of kids, and you've got to involve them and sell the idea, otherwise the peer pressure, lack of confidence, fear even, will just mean they reject the whole thing, which is what NT seems to be witnessing.

I despair at the lack of psychological awareness and understanding shown by our "leaders" in so many things, such as crime, drug abuse, teenage pregnancy etc., and now apparently school meals. They make such basic mistakes, it's so depressing.

Whatever happened to Domestic Science?
