No!

My old SV650 SK3 showed 83bhp at the crank on the dyno and all I'd done to it to get that was to change the end can (not a full system), add a K&N air filter, do the TRE & TPS mods and get it re-mapped... A total cost of about £300... Not the thousands different to get to a Supersport 600!

I didn't do the mods purely for power increases, although it was nice to get some! I wanted to make the bike my own and had spent more on accessories for it (db screen, heated grips, Gilles rearsets, etc.) than on the mods which contributed to power increases.

The reason I bought the SV was that I was new to riding, having just passed my test so didn't want something I would go out & kill myself on, but I did want something that would grow with me. I am also yound, so the fact that insurance is somewhat costly, I needed a bike that was cheap to insure but that wasn't boring or 'orrible to look at! The SV was all of this. I was looking to change to a different bike (possibly a supersport 600) this year but after my accident, the issue was forced somewhat, so I now have a Triumph T595 Daytona.

I feel that I learned more on the SV in my first year of motorcycling than I would have on a SS600 bike and I also enjoyed modifying it!
