I seem to do stupid things every now and then, so needing new tyres more often will still be cheaper than having to repair the bike. And i'm more comfortable with the extra grip that's in reserve.

I think you would be surprised by the number of peopl ewho keep their bikes standard. I can't understand it as the first thing I wanted to do was remove the Snow plough off the back and get a different exhaust. But as you say horses for courses.
