What Toypop said was correct - Scooters are very unstable compared to "proper" bikes.

I know you won't quit. If nothing else just simply ride slower and you won't feel as though you are going to slide off again. Very slowly and steadily your experience, skills and speed will increase without you even noticing - bingo!
That's what I've done. 2 - 3 years ago I was rubbish on a proper bike (even though I'd ridden a Honda C90 for best part of 10 years) and I thought I'd never ever get better, but slowly I have without realising, because if I look at my speed, cornering and control in bends that I can remeber trying 2 years ago, I now think "yeah I've definitely improved a lot since then". Some of us just take longer to get there!
