I'd say the first thing is to get onto the dealer, it's what your warranty is for!
I'm sure it's frustrating but it's probably not a major problem and will easily be sorted.
If the bike had been in the dealer's showroom for a while, the battery may well have been sitting discharged for some time which will mean it's probably had it. It's just one of those things.
If you can get over to them, tell them you want a new battery and for them to check that it's charging properly
on the bike, including when the lights are on.
As others have said, it's a fairly common problem on the SV for the regulator/rectifier to fail, and if it is faulty it will probably cause a new battery to fail too, so it
must be checked. It's not a difficult thing to check, basically a multi-meter and about 5mins work.
