Maybe it's because the SV has a broader appeal to riders of varying skill and experience. Could this be because an IL4's engine is best experienced at the top of the rev range but the kicks from a twin are more to do with the torque throughout the range? Therefore a learner/intermediate (less likely to push their limits) is getting the feedback more of the time on a twin. You can play with it without feeling like you're out of your depth.
Or is that too analytical? After 6 years of ownership the SV is now part of me. I occasionally want more but something inside tells me nothing else would fill that gap.
