Conti's have some rather bad press in both MCN and PB.......
Reckoned to be ok in the dry, but hideous in the wet.
I however cannot speak from personal experience, but can reccomend against the Avon AV45/46 ST's, if you like a jolly jaunt in the poor weather from time to time. Makes you feel like Rossi the amount they spin up.
