Got a magnetic inline doobry on my water inlet so everything gets the benefit. Or not.

In use, I have to rebuild the shower cartidge every month and the kettle is solid. There are scale reducers out there that require funny lumps to be put in the main water system that last about a year at a cost of arounr 30 quid or so. Recon I'll go for one of those soon to give the combi boiler a rest. Still costs a few hundred to install.

A full water softener is the best solution but still requires salt but savings on soap and shower stuff helps, can be expensive to install and takes up a fair bit of space.

Living in Wiltshire I'm used to very hard water.
