I think you might have to figure out how to attach some kind of heat shield to the link pipes as they are going to be very close to your legs when you are riding. They will cook you. Have a look at how they do it on the 749/999's for your inspiration. Basically you need a couple of spacers welding to the pipe and then some kind of plate fixing to them. An air gap in between the pipe and the shield will mean ess heat in itself.

You could even weld a couple of nuts at the right kind of spacing to accomadate all manner of heat shields that are available on the internet.
