Exclamation SHARP: N-CAP stlye helmet testing-coming this Spring

Read it in BIKE and thought I'd post the link.

I think it's a good idea although I can see prices on the top lids going up.

All I get is a page asking me to add name and email address, do I really want to sign up to a goverment web site when they keep loosing lists of stuff

There is a very good link to how to fit a lid though something that should be stuck up in all shops that sell them, would stop the sort of thing I saw today, lad wanted cheap lid, tried one one (it looked a good fit) and accepted it without a second thought. I do not blame the shop for this as the girl serving him did try to get him to try it properly, ie put it on and try move it about but he knew better

I think it's so they can mail you when they've completed tests on all the helmets. I thought a lot more people would be interested in this to be honest.

From that site:

"Important note:

Buying a second hand helmet is not recommended. There could be damage you can't see. You are also unlikely to get the right fit. You must be cautious and only buy if you are satisfied that the helmet fits and is in a usable condition as designed. If you are in any doubt, contact the manufacturer for further information"

Now call me old fashioned here but I was always told DON'T buy a second hand lid full stop. I don't think the above helpful in anyway and is dangerous. I stopped reading after that point.

I think most people with a bit of sense wouldn't buy a second hand lid. I think it's damage limitation for the silly billys. I can't believe it when I see people bidding for second hand lids on ebay.

I think people are interested - I certainly am - but its quite a way off yet. My helmet (HJC) is an ok fit, the best out of ALL the ones I've tried (and I've tried stacks!) so I'm keen to know how it stands up to the new testing. Bring it on.
