Default 'M5 wheelies' (end quote)

In local free paper.

Motorcyclist from Portishead (not me ) followed at 132mph on M5 and then onto A370 where also exceeded 50 limit at 90mph and was 'pulling wheelies' while doing so at 90mph (says paper) got £200 and 56 day ban for speeding and £200 for careless driving. So not a bad result for him.

Funny bit is tho he was ordered to pay a £15 'victim surcharge'. Who was the victim? Someone who witnessed the wheelies or (quote) 'the police officer on patrol who struggled to keep up' .

Naughty but slightly tee hee.

Oh, he was riding a 'very powerful Yamaha motorcycle', by the way.

I have yet to read of someone caught doing something naughty on a 'very underpowered motorcycle'

Yup I'd guess he went straight down the pub to celebrate that one.

I like the 'Very powerful' part. I mean most saloon cars are equal to the avergae bike in power output. My volvo is 140hp ffs, and thats not classed as powerful!!

Victim surcharge!!

Apparently we all (if we get done) have to pay this victim surcharge, £15 on top of all fines

Well the quote is "a very powerful Yamaha motorcycle". I don't think it's necessary to qualify that with "(powerful for a motorcycle)" any more than you have to say "as long as you don't compare it with top fuel dragsters" after stating that the Bugatti Veyron is a very powerful car.

Seems a very lenient punishment anyway. Does he even had to resit the test? How many points are added to his license in these situations?

it's laughable,
Quote:
The measure was introduced as part of the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act 2004.
eerm, yes, lets "fine" those naughty motorists to help pay for victims of domestic violence
Quote:
The Home Office says it is part of a series of moves by Home Secretary John Reid to "rebalance" the criminal justice system in favour of victims.
no, rebalancing the justice system would be preventing incidents like burglars suing you for tripping over the shoes in your hallway whilst robbing your house

however they spin and sugar coat it, it's a tax, the fact that it's going to victims of crime just means that the gov doesn't have to find the money elsewhere. amusing that after taxing pretty much all the legal things in life, they now tax crime

In that case, disgraceful, if it was anything decent he should have had way more than 130 out of it

I think Im going to come down and get caught doing 130 odd mph so the reporter can call my bike a very powerful motorcycle! Then when I have it in writing I can impress my friends with it!
