Anyone tried these?
I currently have an OGK FF3, which I can mount a black/dark tint 'tearoff' on. I really like this as it gives me the dark visor look/advantages, but a rapidly removable and easily stow-able. Ok, so I like that setup, but back to the actual question, I believe the pin-lock system is the same idea, but an internal tinted/dark fog-city type affair rather than external tear-off? Bearing in mind it has to make a seal as it is double glazing, once it is in there is it easy to take out and will it go back in and still be effective? .... I want something I could take out many times and it still work ... p.s. If you hadn't guessed I now own an Arai. (well I already have 2 old ones, but a new one I mean ![]() |

I like to use the yellow inserts, both on clear and dark visors. I had 2 of these inserts, one on each of my visors, but have loaned one to someone to try out the yellow tint. So I have been swapping the insert back and forwards, The seal is formed by a bead of silicone, I cant see that drying out any time soon. So I would say that the changing/replacing thing is not a problem

Stick it in a zip-lock bag to protect from that And you can always wash the inserts in soapy water if they do get pubey

I'm the same as Soulkiss here - the insert never leaves the visor, except when I change it into the other visor (and the one in that usually gets put in the first).
The only thing to watch out for with the fitting is if the holes end up in slightly different places, but the adjustment in the pins usually copes with that. The seal is maintained by the tension rather than any sticky qualities of the bead. As far as use and washing goes, you just have to be anal about drying them before putting them into the visor - I made a mess of it once, and it misted up really badly on the inside where I couldn't wipe it. |

The pins are eccentric, so turning them squashes the insert up against the inside of the visor. Personally I gave up on the insert thing because I have glasses now and use a breath guard instead. I use a black visor instead of a dark insert. A fully black visor is better than a dark insert because less ambient light hits your eye and that means your pupils will dilate more. The effect is similar to wearing wrap around sunglasses rather than just thin ones.
