And while you're at it, advertise the fact that there's something inside worth stealing.

Good idea would be to fix a bar to the inside of the garage (at the top) so that it cant be opened up. No advertising and added security.

As yorkie chris says, I'd be reluctant to put anything outside the garage door that is visible high security (posts, visible CCTV, etc.) as it will only encourage the scum. Following my garage being broken into, I was advised by both the police and 2 seperate garage door fitters that it's better to have as plain/nondescript as possible on the outside, and fit as much extra security (alarms, additional internal locks, ground anchors, cages, etc.) as you can afford/be bothered to use inside. Logic being, if they see inside with the door up, they'll have already seen the bike, but be slightly detered by the security. If they only see a fortress like garage door and not inside, they'll assume you have something really valuable in there and actually be more likely to attempt to break in. Even if they then take one look at your almaxed & ground anchored SV and walk away, you've still got a knackered garage door to deal with.

Agreed, so other than an alarm, how do you add invisible security to an up & over garage door that is also your exit door?

Then these are good... http://www.saundersonsecurity.co.uk/...Door_Lock.html Not *too* obvious from the outside and can be locked/unlocked from both sides of the door. Also not immediately obvious when unlocked. I prefer something each side as I have seen doors bent up from the corners when only secured in the centre. I have come to the conclusion that most up and over doors only serve to hide the contents of your garage, they offer little security unless you improve the door ![]() |
