I realize that when pushed, the brakes on my SV and 182 are not the best.
On the sv there's more braking than I need on the road, and it's only a few emergency stops from 70mph plus (not real emergencies but seeing how hard I can brake) that make me realize there i might need more stopping power. I did a few hard stops in the car the other day, and there was real noticable brake fade very quickly... But without trying to provoke them I generally wouldn't find standard brakes lacking. Racers hit the brakes at the absolute last minute, and as hard as possible- do you need that performance day to day? Its just that I have an urge to upgrade... But do I really need it!?! Or doesn't that matter ![]() |

Even using the stickiest of tyres, you can get the front tyre to "chirrup" at the point of locking into bends on the Curvy's standard set up. I really don't think the brakes are too bad at all.
There was an article in one of the mags a while ago that told you how to find the limits of your front brakes. I think there was an online article posted too. You may be surprised just how much you've got in reserve. Carl Last edited by Berlin; 07-03-08 at 11:03 PM. |

Only had brake fade once on the road, hot day in the mountains in switzerland after doing about the 50th hairpin in the a row I noticed the lever was coming back on my fingers. Brakes were still working though.
Car cook there brakes very qucikly, once I got out of my mitsubishi colt and there was smoke rising off the brakes, they were still working alright though. I reckon braded lines and performace pads are worth it for the increased 'feel' |

I've heard several people complain about the SV brakes. The SV brakes are more than adequate for the bike.
Race track different ball game. But on the road, there's nothing wrong with them. Performance wise that is. So long as you service them regular. |

I thought my SV's brakes were pretty ok. The suspension was the worst thing about the braking. It just sank so quickly
![]() I only had to do a propper emergancy stop once when a van pulled out on me. They didnt stop me (I hit the van) but they slowed me down VERY quickly. Maybe they could have been better, I dont know. TBH the SV's brakes felt better than the Falco's do atm. Ive got new disc's ill be putting on which should reverse this. The current ones are warped which really doesnt help braking ![]() Since this is a brake thing, has anyone on here bought EBC disc's and pads? I just have, hope they work fine. ![]() |

I have EBC HH pads. They work just fine. They give plenty of feel but at the same time let you know when they have had enough. ie. when they want to weld themselves to the disc.

I have run EBC pads and I though they were great, certainly better than stock. |

The forks on the new bike arnt so sloppy, so im looking forward to the better disc's (ones that work right) so I can see how well it can stop.
