I've been invited round to the in-laws for tea tonight, on the basis that I have a look at their petrol mower which doesn't want to start. I'm making an educated guess that having been sat all winter, a bit of fresh fuel might help; anyone any other suggestions as to what the problem is likely to be?

My easystart mower wouldnt start either after sitting all winter. Fresh fuel, plug out and a few pulls, clean plug and back in and off it went.

Probably has a Briggs engine - they're indestructible. Make sure you've primed the engine - mine has a rubber push button thingy, you press it three times. No more or you'll flood the engine. Oh yeah, you need to hold the clutch in, it's a safety device. Finally make sure the air filter is clear of dried out grass.
