I think you can (from memory), the sensor detects a change in the switch, so will set off if it's opened, but won't do anything if it's not there (if that makes sense)

Remove it, they're more trouble than they're worth. My insurance company aren't bothered if it's alarmed or not and the general public don't take any notice of them anyway. All they ever do is drain the battery and give problems.

What Lozzo said.
None of my bikes are alarmed, but BB juniors Duke is and Id love to remove it but dont dare interfere with the Italian electrics.

Just over ride it, tape a piece of metal over the sensor. For people who have the pressure switch type, tape the switch arm down.

I personally do not have an alarm on my bikes, they are a nuisance, plus when was the last time you saw anybody do anything when the heard an alarm go off when walking past?

Spot on. This is definitely true for the System 3. You should be fine using the pillion seat.

If the sensor isn't there when you arm the alarm then it won't go off when you open it. However, I challenge you to pop the pillion seat without triggering the motion sensor. I only have to look at my bike in the wrong way and it beeps at me I always have to disable the motion sensor before popping the seat otherwise the alarm triggers.

Utter Tosh!

I've left my bike for 2 months untouched (sad days) without putting it on winter mode; and then it started instantly. That's with a system IV on a k6.

Often when I leave my bike in public places and come back, the alarm beeps to let me know it's been touched. On my old un-alarmed bike I often used to come out the supermarket to find hordes of kids clambering over it. This have never happened with the alarmed bike.

Whilst it won't stop a determined thief, it'll let me know if someones trying to remove the three chains on it from where it is kept outside my window at night. This buys me long enough to grab the baseball bat, get naked, have a whisky and pull my 'possessed' face in to action.

You're talking about one of these?

I chopped mine out at Soho yesterday as it kept setting the alarm off - it's faulty. Was driving me nuts.

So I have connected the two wires to close the circuit and its fine. (The rest of the system work perfectly.
