Coming to work today as I came off Embankment at Blackfriars Bridge there's a traffic light controlled pedestrian crossing. Now this has a very long phase to it as it also controls the flow of traffic coming off the bridge as well, giving them priority most of the time.
So as my light had turned green there was this guy still sauntering across the road (who had crossed on the red man & taking his goddam time about it) when I decided to start going and as I went from first a little revs, to a little movement he started going quicker, so I accelerated harder, so he went a little quicker, so I accelerated harder till he kicked up his heels and jumped as my bike passed almost underneath him. So do they need to be herded every so often? ![]() ![]() |

if they cross on the red man its their fault for trying to dodge traffic!
so if you scared the pants off him, i can bet he wont be doing it anytime soon |

My favourite:
Kid crossing outside Leicester square tube after Soho one night, kid follows people out into the road on red man, my green. Kid's got his face stuck in a PSP or gameboy, so I take off from the line, then brake hard and open the throttle, he turns round to see a bike braking heavily 8ft from him doing 12,000 rpm. Every limb tried to go a different way. I giggled all the way home. I try to keep these antics to low speed ones though as pedestrians are liable to randomly switch direction. Jambo

Possibly...but some pedestrians do need to be taught a lesson i.e. pay attention to the damn road and dont automatically assume its your right of way.
I have countless idiots randomly stepping out in front me, particularly in wembley high street. Good job I pay attention and drive slow enough..! I doubt he'l take his time crossing the road anytime soon ![]() Maria |

I love playing chicken with those two legged walky things. Great Marlborough Street is good for that in the middle of a busy shopping day. Nearly had Tracey Oberman and Jason Donovan. (I think the pedestrians must like it too).
I don't think you're bad Stu. Just trying to keep people on their toes right? ![]() Last edited by monkey; 04-09-08 at 10:38 PM. Reason: Spelling was attroscious!!! |
