Default dodgy horn.

so...my horn is misbehaving...

sometimes it works fine and sometimes not at all...
the wierd thing is if it's not working, often stopping the bike and re-doing the immobiliser thing and restarting it will make the horn work again, but that doesnt always work...

any ideas what could be causing the problem?

tempted to check the wiring from the button to the horn but is there any chance the immobiliser could be causing the problem?

Wiring straight off.
If theres no problem on the external wires cheack the switch gear.

I wouldnt worry.. no one pays attention to my horn when they cut me up or at least till they get a mirror crushed!

no personal experience but pretty sure I've read on here that there is a generec overheating problem, ie the heat of the engine caused the horn to fail but works ok once it cools down. Hth.

My horn is excellent, its a comedy prop in its own right. I'll press the horn, sometimes it'll make the sound it was ment to, the other times it'll sound like its dying, then regaining conciousness, then dying. Its great, I think I'll have to get a sound clip of it sometime.

As far as I'm aware, its to do with the heat. It has got a little better (more normal) since I cleaned the connections a bit, but still provides excellent audio entertainment

Soulkiss's horn wins hands down though for effect. AR08 was a good example; I started the beeping, everyone else beeped their equally pathetic sounding standard horns, then Soulkiss let rip with his. Ah, memories..

The horn on my K8 would stop working after about 20 mins riding....the general advice is that it's too close to the radiator and the heat makes the internals expand and stop it from working.

There are 2 solutions -

- bend the horn further away from the rad, or mount it somewhere else

- spend £20 on a Stebel Nautilus air horn from Halfords, take 30 mins to wire it up (there are some schemas on the .org just do a search for them), sit back safely in the knowledge that if you ever do need to use the horn, people WILL hear it (although not necessarily realise it's you....they'll be looking around for an artic, it's that loud).

Any guides anywhere to rigging up a Nautilus?
I've just reserved one at halfords. The youtube videos are pretty good at demonstrating the volume of that thing
