Neio...again

Why was the last thread about Neio closed?

From what I saw a number of people were discussing Neio, the sort of person he is in 'real life' and his forum persona, as well as the reasons why he was given a restricted access. Again, from what I read I didn't see anything offensive, or a reason to lock the thread.

What has annoyed me about that thread in particular is the ability of a mod to put a number of 'facts' about what had happened - incidentally, one 'fact' would appear to be a rumour - i.e. that Neio has deliberately in the past posted to disrupt and cause trouble, and doesn't give a toss about any of us that use the forum. After this mod post, the thread is closed, removing the right of people like me, who know Nieo, to stick up for him. As a friend of Neio, I can tell you catagorically that this is NOT the case.

To suggest that he has posted solely to disrupt the forum and cause offence, I find absurd.

Regarding the rules - specifically unwritten rules, I subscribe to a number of other forums as well (a sin for having a CBR!). A lot of other forums seem to have a much more relaxed attitude to moderation (not that this is a critisism of the SV site). Swearing, some abuse and put downs all seem par for the course (again only an observation, not a critisism).

I have found this forum really useful since I became a member, and hope that I have tried to help others. I have also met some really good friends through SV650.org, but I'm sad at the heavy-handed approach which has been taken on this matter, particularly the unfounded bad-mouthing of a friend.
