I met a Swiss couple last night, as part of my job. They arrived on ship carrying fruit from Colombia, banannas and pineaples to be precise.
Turned out they'd ridden on their V Stroms from Buenos Aires to Cartagena in Colmbia, where they'd put them onboard this ship to cross the Atlantic. They'd been in South America for 11months on this trip, which is pretty cool I think. I didn't see their bikes but the had big aluminium panniers (just like Charlie & Euan) for all their kit. I didn't have much time to ask them about their adventures, but the ship was going to Antwerp next, where they and their bikes got off. Then they were riding straight home to Switzerland! Have bike will travel!

Unfortunately you have to have the time and money to do that sort of traveling ...Though it would be an experience that would stick with one for a lifetime , I've been finding this couple on you tube who have video documentation of their travels as such (except on a GS500F) and what a great time they are having ....Very well put together videos and it makes you think (i got to get the hell out of here and just do it)....

Yes, time and money will always prevent most of us doing these world tours.
But we can all sample the type of riding in these videos. It can't be the UK, as there's no Police with speed guns and helicopters chasing them! ![]() A guy at my local tyre fitting place took his GSXR to France and was stopped by a Police man with a speed gun, but he didn't get a ticket, as the rozzer was only interested checking out his bike! What an enlightend attitude. ![]()

I've had similar happen in UK - Norwich to be precise. I was riding an immaculate 3000 mile, 13 year old RD250D and all the copper wanted to do was reminisce about his days on an FS1E and identical RD250. I humoured him for a few minutes then asked if it was ok to go as my dinner would be in the dog when I got home.

Well that's a turn up for the books. But as we know there are some coppers who are human after all
![]() You wouldn't have had the same conversation with a Saftey (Speed) camera van ![]()
