Can anyone point me to the legislation about not having to have vehciles serviced at the authorised garage providing schedules and reciepts are kept and OEM parts used?
The Beast needs its yr service but its nearly £300 from an aprilia dealer. its £150 from a guy who will use OEM parts etc now the Office of Fair Trading released details of the car side of things, but I have no idea if this stems to bikes as well.. I cant afford the £300 so if i dont have it done there I might loose the warrenty, but If I do the £150 I might stand a chance of keeping the warrenty? Oh might .org! |

AFAIK, as long as you can prove that he vehicle has been serviced to manufacturers standards and service schedules, and you can prove all this (An itemised bill is all you need) then a warranty claim should (if needed, be simple)
Its always simple if its been serviced by a dealer, but your rights are there. |

Big thing about this a few years ago, independent garages can service cars without affecting the warranty.
Believe it is the same for bikes, it used to be a license to print money. |

True. Although this does rather make a point, (no offence to OP intended):
When you think you can afford to buy one, does that also mean you can afford to run one? I know too many poorly kept expensive bikes.

ah ha.. indeed. Under normal curcumsatances yes I could as I bought the bike from the dealer in Leeds who quoted me £200 which I could afford... Unfortunalty its £100 more down here from a dealer I dont trust.. And I have just had to fork out another £750 for mortgage costs as they screwed me over, as well as the **** head who was origionally selling me thier house pulling me out and costing me another £450.... so normally yes I can afford to run it... this month... not a chance... |

Is that £150 from the guy in Harleston Alex?
If so from what I have heard getting it serviced there could never be described as keeping it "poorly kept" - no offence intended Sir Squideous ![]() It is my understanding that as long as OEM parts are used and the manufacturers service manual followed and you have receipts to prove then you are good to go - saying that I bet a dealer would try and squirm out of a warranty claim just "because".
