You know you've got too comfortable filtering up close to heavy traffic when you filter between two heavy vehicles and the strange "whrring" noise as you go past doesn't even register until you get to work and realise your left boot has a few new lines on it where the wheel of the truck on your left was polishing it

And i thought it was getting silly when it got to the point you have to contort yourself into funny shapes to fit under/round wing mirrors =p

Crazy. I hope that's one of those moments which makes you step back and take a look at the way you ride (which is obviously with limited spatial awareness ).

I caught both my elbows on alternate busses once as i went between them, and one of them decided to close the gap!!

Makes me chuckle and breath in! As for mirros, i duck under them all the time.

Lol it's London where this happens, the place where the rule book goes out the window and you start finding new and interesting ways to insert yourself between other road vehciles (hopefully on a very TEMPORARY basis)

I've brushed against a van with my elbow before, and hit another van mirror with my shoulder (ouch).

Truth is, i've probably come very very close to several nasty filtering accidents, only narrowly avoiding by a few centimeters.

I was only having a joke with the guy about what must have been a pretty scary revelation when he realised what had happened.

TBH I'd have thought that riding in London would make you less likely to have something like this happen, not more likely.

TBH I'd have thought that riding in London would make you less likely to have something like this happen, not more likely.

It does make us superior, no thinking about it. Londoners can filter like no other.

Riding in the city, well I had a proper row every single day (im confrontational). Something happens every day, in fact, something happens numerious times each day. I rode faily nippy, but some of those guys ride like they have a death wish, things i'd not even consider (likewise some people here may think that about london commuters if they ever saw them).

Since coming out the city, i had to re-remind myself not to be so arrogent and me me me me on the the road. Ride more relaxed, more passive, more room for filtering etc.....
