Taking my ipod speakers apart atm.
Quite confused. Got all the covers off, theres two what I think are subs at each end, its a Altec Lansing im7, heres a link to its specs.Specs. One 'sub' is connected to some wires, the other isn't. Why? And what are they actually? Trying to find out if I have a short or somethign more serious. TIA David. Last edited by Sally; 08-06-09 at 12:42 PM. |

By the very nature of 'subs' you only need one, I guess the other end is just passive.

The general problems with IM7's in general, is no power getting through the plug to the charger and speakers.
My one powers up, but nothing plays. Its charges the iPod, but doesn't output any sound. And I can't figure out how to get into it. |

+1 with what tigersaw said.
its a passive diaphram, opposes the "sub" and moves more air |
