My nephew has just turned up on the cg125 his dad bought for him last night from somewhere near Davepreston. G reg, 40,000 on the clock, 12 months MOT and delivered to his house for £300. Now missing his RH mirror when his dad did something to it last night.
So a quick razz round the block on it. god I feel wobbly and insecure as if I am on a bone shaker push bike. This thing is gutless. It takes forever to get it upto 70. Hit the brakes at the junction. WTF where are they. Oh my god I am going to kill myself. cannot get myself onto the back brake properly as the kick start is in the way. Must remember to pack it back in. So limp back anticipating every possible requirement to brake. look down and it is a drum brake on the front. I try to test it by a hard yank on the lever. impossible to lock it up. OK I am a fat git but should the suspension bottom out when braking at 20mph. his mate is on a yam R125. 400 miles on the clock. that felt so much more solid and responsive even if gutless. He has the CG booked in for a service tomorrow. I have told him to get the front fork oil changed. I predict this thing will not last a month. the tax disc on it is dated 2002. He has the confirmation of insurance they took out last night, but until the actual paperwork turns up he cannot get it taxed. I get the feeling the first ANPR he goes past will ring the bells.

Can they reverse pull the brake on a cg for more leverage?
he may be able to tax it online without the paperwork.

I had a go on a 50cc scooter the other day. I nearly went over the front when I leant forward just as I fully opened the throttle

My first bike was an H reg CG, and that sounds like a pretty good description of what they all feel like to ride!
![]() They do go on forever though, you might just be surprised... |

My first bike was a CB125 JEC 681N. Went every where on it. Did tons of miles.
I think the CG was a con rod version, whereas the CB had a cam chain. Mine had brakes that made it go faster - never bloody worked

My CG is called Henry and although he is a bit old and made in Brazil, he is lovely. Mind you he is in the garage with the engine stripped down while we wait for new bits to arrive. Also the brakes on my Mountain bike have way more feel to them and way more power, but then I have twin piston hydraulics on the mountain bike and cable operated drums on the CG. What a pile of piles! Still love him though.
