Default Team or alone working?

I have always considered myself a Team player and I guess that is still very much true, however more and more recently I have realised i work better when I am left to my own devices, I have quite a technical job involving design detailing etc and must get disturbed easilly, we have an open plan office so it can get quite noisy albiet there is just 4 of us in this section...

anyway.. reaslised it today as I'm on me todd! and getting loads of work done.

(except for the odd minute of posting on here)

What do you like.. ppl around you or peace and quiet?

Same as you, I can work fine; in an office, having a chat on the phone, listening to ipod etc but the odd morning when I'll come in early I'll get more done in that first hour than I will in any of the following ones thats for sure.

To be left the hell alone to get on with the work I've been given. I am a terrible terrible team worker.

I cant stand team meetings, team building exercises or any of that stuff. I hate it.

Give me an empty office, my MP3 Player and a set of headphones and make it so I never have to speak to anybody then I'm a happy worker.

I don't do teams. My boss knows and understands. It causes problems for me in a large organisation. So they tend to leave me in a dark corner for when things go wrong and then get me out to sort it.

Most of the time I have to work in a team - being Team Leader means that I'd not have a job otherwise!

But when it's time to do staff reports and other Line Managery carp, I find it much easier and quicker to borrow my bosses office and work in there, no phone calls, no interruptions - I get the job done in hours instead of days!

I'm happy working alone, I can plan things the way I want and go about the work in my own way. I dont mind having people around to talk to when I'm in the lab, but when I'm writing I require solidarity, tea and biscuts.

Quite often though, when someone has a problem with their chemical synthesis, we group together and brainstorm idea's. This I suppose is working in a team, and I enjoy it.

I work in a factory with others, but work alone doing my own thing. I prefer it that way. I can go all day hardly having to speak to any of the numpties I work with!

I prefer riding by myself than in a large group of people....
as for work, I'm in the Army and have no choice on the matter.
