Default Coeliac (celiac) disease

Anybody on here suffer (or have family who suffer) with Gluten Intolerance? What kind of foods other than bread and cereals should be avoided? What symptoms do you see (especially in babies and toddlers)? Thanks

Yes - its basically a severe wheat and gluton intolerance .... Stomach cramps, headaches, upset stomach will all occur if wheat and gluton is taken..

Normally you'll be intolerant to other foods too!!

Although its called a disease - its nothing to get too concerned over as far as I am aware ...

If it`s been diagnosed by a GP or hospital consultant you can get a lot of products on prescription. Bread, biscuits pasta etc.

A friend of mine says the bread you can buy is an aquired taste, but if you have a breadmaker you can get a really good loaf using gluten free ingredients

Hi man, the wife suffers from Coeliac, only found this out a few years ago. With small children they don't recommend removing foods from their diet untill it has been diagnosed, can cause more problems as they grow.
After Alison found out she joined coeliac uk, http://www.coeliac.org.uk they supply a load of info books etc, best book she got through that website was called The food & drink directory.
Most of the Onken yogurts are gluten free, not all though. Rice Krispies are good too
One thing i do know, most of the supermarkets have a rubbish selection of gluten free stuff.
