Default Getting it round a corner!

Ok folks i wouldn’t mind a bit of advice if that’s ok?

I’m sure you will no doubt be aware that i had a little off at the weekend. So last night i bodged it together and went for a quick 20 mins to get me back into the swing of things. Nowthen near me there’s a place called eland with a nice set of figure eight round abouts. I went there and proceeded to play about with leaning over, braking etc just to make me feel better. Now heres the thing with the sv i could lean it right over if i wanted to. Ok so it never really went over that far but it went. I am now having difficulty getting the s4 lent over. For the first say 15deg its fine. However after that it becomes really really hard to lean it over even further. I can do it but the amount of effort required makes it feel un natural. Now while im doing this when its leant right over the back does feel like its on the edge of the grip levels and if i wasn’t 100% smooth it would break free. On the sv i wouldn’t get that at those kind of speeds. Its un nerving and i think one of the reasons why i stood the bike up on sat, i just didn’t believe it would go round the corner.

I’m obviously doing something wrong. (apart from getting on the bike in the first place) what is it?

Well, I can't offer any advice, me being a new rider and all, but bl**dy well done for getting yourself back out so quickly and making yourself go and practise!

Hope it all comes together for you soon, I couldn't believe the difference in the CG and the CBR.

Front tyre cupped?

You doing a few laps first to get tyres warm? If they are warm you have lots of grip, see Berlins review of those.

Fairly aggressive tyres like that it should feel dead happy to flop right over on its ear.
What is profile like? especially front. Post some pics of tyres.

You're talking about a bike you've crashed & put back on the road?
Sounds like you need a 2nd opinion that the bike is 100% OK. Either get a mate to ride it, or take it to a professional.

Stop watching how everyone else does it, and concentrate on how you do it.
You are a totally different bike and rider, so everything and anything is different.

Slow everything down, and maybe decide if the tyres are the right ones for your riding. Your SV and Trumpet are totally different animals. Its like me trying to ride the Raptor like my SVs(even though they are different to each other, but same bike) I'd fail miserably.

Actually the S4 should be pretty similar to the SRAD in handling, if not better than a stock one.

I can't remember what we did with rear of that, did we reduce preload to a reasonable level or is it still set to ping off every ripple?

yea we reduced it a fair bit but its still bloody bouncy. I backed off the compression and rebound and its helped but the back still needs sftening up imo. Its great on a smooth bit but as soon as you hit a bump its all over the place.

I've also discoverd that what im doing on the bike effects it massivly. If om over the front it handles a hell of a lot better but you have to be "on it" to be like that imo. my worry is that by backing the preload off on the rear it would send more weight backwards thus making the front feel more vague.

Oh and i know know that this bike isnt designed to take me to work and back but is absolutly at home doing 12k down some twisties! wow what a bike when its like that!
