Default Scottoiler Dispenser Nib Position

Hi

I installed a Scottoiler to my bike last week. However I went out last night to admire my handy work and just check that the chain was wet and the flow rate was correct and I noticed my dispenser nib was missing. Gutted.

I have seen that you can buy spare nibs online so have ordered two but what I want to know is has anyone else had this problem?

Is there a way of ensuring the nib is secured to the dispenser tubing securely?

Also where are people placing the dispenser nib? I had mine at the front of the sprocket at the 7 O'Clock position as recommended in the online instructions.

Any help would me much appreciated

as per instructions..

there is a tiny wee clip that comes with the kit I think to tighten the nib on .. not sure

one thing.. do you back the bike out of the garage?? or at any time back it up.. this bends the nib the wrong way often and it can flick back and ping off when u set off

The ' nibs ' are just short lengths of the black vacuum pipe, so buy a length of that & make your own.
The business end should be tapered & heat the other end over a match or lighter to form a blob - this will hold it in place.
As Quiff says: beware of putting pressure the wrong way when reversing the bike. This can also get muck up the orifice, and you don't want that!

You need to get it in the right spot so it doesn't get ripped off when backing up.

could a bit of heat shrink hold it on>?

mind you mine has never come off.. its all about putting it in the right place.. as there are times when backing up your bike cannot be avoided

Yeah you can't have it so it gets ripped off every time you let it roll back 6"!

Personally I just chucked it and used a bit of brass tube.

Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like backing up the bike may have caused it to come loose.

Can someone suggest a good position for the nib as unfortunately not backing up my bike isn't an option

Not dragging on the sprocket.

Just have a look on the Scottoiler website - there's a bucket load of info there.
