Default Getting to know my SV

Today my can of ACF-50 arrived so as it was raining all day I decided to set-to and get it coated, the bike was already clean from it's wash on Sunday.
It all went quite well, no Haynes yet though so I just felt my way through it and soon felt like giving the previous owner a slap

The bolts on the tail-tidy were so tight they had deformed and cracked the metal and cracked the plastics, it's out of sight but still not right. The wiring to the numberplate light and indicators(aftermarket with fake carbon effect..Nasty but functional) looked like a 5 year old had done it with wires twisted together and taped up (now properly soldered and heat shrinked)
Throw a couple of missing bolts for the under tray and a broken plastic rivet thing into the mix and that was about the end of the problems with the job.

Everything in sight was blasted and wiped off baring the painted plastics/tank and wheels which all get a weekly wash and wax anyway, slight corrosion on both fork lowers and the bottom yoke and for some reason both brackets for the belly pan on the left side were rusty as sin, both being treated to an overnight soak in cola. I have some black rust proof paint (POR 15) so that will be sorted soon.

The Missing bolts were M6, so I looked through the odds-n-sods box and turned up a pair of bolts with washers from my old BMW, they must be 20 years old but look brand new so in they went. All electrical connectors that had been apart had a bit of ACF before being put back together except the battery terminals, I use some battery terminal protector on those that I got from a friendly forklift engineer.

Of course, after having the nose off to get at the yokes I did remember to re-connect the multi plug for the lights didn't I?.... Ignition on, fuel pump priming, no headlights
All in all, not a bad way to spend a rainy day off, but that to-do list keeps growing...

I will
Off out on it this afternoon, no plans really apart from calling into squires later.

It gets used to get me to work and back too, only thing that keeps it in really is when its cold enough for ice.

Edit
For rust removal.
Cola = FAIL
Distilled vinegar = Win

Dad putting the tin of black Hammerite back on the shelf empty = Grrr, but I had some brush on metal paint and a 50p brush so it's not so bad.
