Default Stebel Nautilus compact horn anyone?

Has anyone ever fitted one of these horns to a Curvy.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/STEBEL-NAUTILU...item3a5b52160f
I took the left hand handlebar controls apart, and the horn switch has 2 black wires,

A relay came with the kit, Instructions are clear with wiring it up, although it gives you the option to keep your existing horn,

The 1st option is pictured with the existing horn switch having an earth wire attached,

The 2nd option is the switch having a HOT wire attached.

These options allow for an additional inline switch to be fitted so that either horn can be chosen. But they are both a different wiring setup.

A few pics would be useful, and pointers as to where it should be fitted.

Thanks Mark

I have fitted one to the pointy..

Samething really.

I removed the original horn and just wired it up and seperated the actual stebel from the plastic horn part and got some fuel pipe to connect the two.

STOP!!!!

Dont connect it at the bars.

You can just take the spade connectors off the stock horn and connect them to your relay - means if the Stebel goes bad its easy to swap back...

I have a Nautilus on my SV, fitted were the stock horn was.

I have a Nautilus AND a Magnum on the Zed tho

No need for that. Wire the switching side of the relay up in place of the original horn (I even used the original connectors). Take a wire from the positive side of the battery to the relay and thence to the new horn. I screwed the relay to the front of the airbox using a self-tapper with a rubber washer to provide a seal. that way the relay is protected from the elements by the tank. Worked great on my curvy.

EDIT: Beaten to it by SK..

I wasnt going to wire the horn to the switch. I was just looking to see what colour wire goes to the switch. Because that determins which way I need to wire up the inline switch.
Has anyone got any pictures of thier setup.

Thanks Mark

It is much easier to determine which wire does what with a multimeter or test light...

I see little point in the switching... Both horns on mine are always on with a circuit to delay the Stebel by ~500ms so that I can give it a short double tap on the electro-magnetic or hold it for loud and obnoxious. The only time that I would disconnect the stebel by pulling the earth is for roadworthy inspections (air horns are not allowed here).

I was getting the cable to wire up my horn today, the autospark said how close to the horn are you fitting the relay.
He said keep the connection short like about a foot.

Where have you all fitted your relays. Under the seat??.

This means the connection between the horn and relay would be 3ft or so. Depending where the horn was fitted.

Same as SK & luckypants, I wired the original horn switch to the relay & hid the relay under the tank.

But additionally I split the horn from the compressor, ran the wiring to uderside the passenger seat and mounted the compressor in there.

There's a thread on SVrider.com on how to split the horn from the compressor

I ran a piece of clear tubing to the horn from the compressor outlet, which I'd mounted in the left hand fairing.

Made sense to me, as the compressor is fairly heavy and its protected where it sits under the seat
