Default Coolant change, question about header tank.

Evenning all,
Firstly i have done a search and can't find what i'm looking for. I'm changing the coolant, i've removed the the filler cap, removed the drain plug and header bottle top, drained the coolant and flushed through. the header bottle is still full of old coolant. What am i doing wrong?

Nothing.

To drain the bottle remove the small hose at the rad cap housing and lower it down, the bottle will empty out through this.

This small hose goes to the bottom of the bottle so that it will always take liquid back into the rad system when it all cools down and contracts, but any gas gets vented up through the liquid to the top of the bottle so is purged from the system, thus keeping it full of liquid as much as possible.

Shouldn't do, the only thing which connects the radiator/engine coolant circuit to the bottle is that small hose, and because it connects at the filler cap neck, you won't lose any coolant from the rad side when you take it off, you'll only drain the bottle.

Make sure it is reconnected afterwards!!
