So I recently purchased a SV K3 and every now and then I have issues with the fuel injection where I'll turn the key in the ignition, hear a small noise (like it's trying to inject the fuel - but wont) and then there will be FI text flashing on the display. To get it to work I either have to try again, or flick the kill switch on and off every time.
Initially I thought it was a problem with the kickstand, but often the FI works fine with the stand down, and up, but other times it won't work at all in the same situations. I've read around and nothing seems to have helped, so any help provided is appreciated. Thanks |

I've had this, and a few others. I think it's the contacts in the kill switch that need cleaning. Or quite possibly elsewhere. Anyway it was definitely a simple electrical fault.
*distant recollection* I seem to remember a thread on it, with a guy called Pencil_Shavings.

This is the exact issue i have with the green block connector under the airbox. Take a look at that first.
You can read the FI code by placing a piece of wire across two points under the passenger seat. If it reads C42, then its most likely the green connector that has failed. Bibio on here also suggests checking the wipers and points on the ignition barrel but I dont know how to do this and have not looked at mine yet. Google how to do the other bits, there has been lots of threads on it here. One recent. http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=204161

Thanks for the replies guys.
I have tried opening up the kill switch and making sure the connectors were fine - they were. I will try the green block connector under the airbox. Is it hard to get to? Thanks for the help. |

PITA.
1.if you have lower fairings on remove them. 2.get a towel and place on the front mudguard 3.remove horn connector 4.take bolts out for radiator and move down out the way (reason for towel) 5.look up at the back of the headstock and you will see a plastic cowl, remove plastic cowl by taking plastic screws out (good luck) 6.once plastic cowl is out the way you have access to the 3 connectors that you need to inspect. the connectors are held together with catches moulded into the plastic. |
