V-twins with open race cans tend to do this.
![]() Nothing to worry about. The pops come from unburnt fuel that ignites in the exhaust line. Normally the baffle/cat eliminates this on road legal cans. I've been told by friends that at night, when my can pops, there are flames spitting out of the exhaust. ![]() |

What can did you put on it?
After fitiing my G-Force i noticed a good amount of popping (only minor, but sounds great) at various parts of the rev range and more pronounced when off the revs and the engine is slowing the bike. But then that was part of the reason i chose G-Force as it does the same kinda thing on my mates Ninja.

Spidey - CCC Twin outlet with removable baffles (note:the baffles fell out before the can was fitted) It only happens when using the engine braking, I just wondered if this was meant to happen on the injected models.

Popping on the over-run is pretty normal with aftermarket cans though, as Stef says, stock cans don't (except for the new Triumphs!), so it's a bit worrying if you're not used to it.

Pork,
The injection version of the 650 engine has a PAIR system attached to it. This stands for Pulsed Air Injection, and litterally introduces air into the exhaust gases - this allows unburnt fuel to ignite, usually down the exhaust, and now that you have a race can, you can hear it. Usually the popping on the overrun is a sign of a leak in the exhaust system.

Nope... it's all happening away from the mechanical parts of your bike. Always worth getting the mixture tuned, which will reduce the popping, and make things a little cleaner, but not something to worry about otherwise.
Just enjoy the noise!

I get plenty of pops and bangs from my twin Rene's.
No problems, just sounds cool. |
