HI all,
I may have mentioned this last week to all on the S.Wales rideout. So I had an "Issue" with my Scottoiler, and thinking to myself that the rear sprocket is looking a little dry. After piddling about whith the settings and taken on board Carsick, Fizzwheel and other advice. I have had a good look at all the documentation and PDF's (cheers Cloggsy ![]() And have now gone as far as to speak to Scottoiler themselves this afternoon. Basically the RMV and Touring kit are still full ![]() Spoken to Scottoiler, and have done as they said, and set the RMV to prime, thus causing the oil to pi$$ out ![]() Spoken to a techy guy at Scottoiler (Mark) and he advised me that the oil should be dripping out 1 drop every 40 seconds. What he also said that just confirmed what Carsick said was that the numbers on the top of the RMV unit are not relative at all to the amount of drops that come out. Mark told me to run the engine, and set to prime then slowly turn the nozzle until you acheive the 1 drip per 40 secs, no more than 2 per minute. Done this lunch time, didn't have enough time, seems to be dripping out, but will try and find the ultimate setting when I get home. Just note to self for further ref: The RMV unit on it's own lasts for about 800 miles The touring Kit last for about 4k - 5k miles depending on useage. Cheers all, sorry for the long post ![]() |

Mass, they're right about the numbers not corresponding to "drips per minute" and on mine, if it's set to number 1/2, none come out at all.
It's worth upping the regularity of the drops in wet weather- oil like that in a scottoiler is more likely to wash off than chainwax and similar lubricants. Also, to see if it's working, as well as leaving the engine running (bike on side stand, in neutral) and looking, just check your back wheel (the actual wheel-not the tyre- shouldn't be any on that ![]() I check mine reasonably regularly, not only to see if it needs refilling, but also to make sure that the level is going down (ie it's dripping). |

Cheers Ceri,
I think I'll have a better go when I get home, I had people banging on the windows in work, when I was checking it earlier ![]() ![]() Didn't want to upset them too much ![]() I have it set at about 6 - 7 at the moment, so no doubt by the time I get home it'll be all over the place ![]() |
