Default Whoops - help required

Whilst trying to remove my heel plates to replace them, i have rounded out the alan key bolts holding them in place - does anyone have any top tips to sort this out, or am i going to have to drill them out and replace them?

Use a hacksaw to cut a slot into the head of the bolt then use a flathead screwdriver to remove. The bolt wont look pretty, probably best to replace it.
Hopefully someone will have a better idea than mine, but its an option.

Use a small set of stud extractors, the ones that you screw in, and have a left handed thread. The idea being that you tighten the extractor up, until it undoes the screw.

You will have to drill a small hole in the screw first, but this will be smaller than if you had to drill the complete screw out (with this method there is very little change of damaging the thread with the drill).

Sorry if this is a bit jumpy, if you need it clarified, pm me and i'll try to explain better.

I wellied an appropriately sized 'hex' bit into my knackered side-pod allen nut & removed it that way - worked really well for me

Default Rounded bolt

If you are going to use the screw extractors ( also called stud extractors ) then its best to use carbide drill bits ( they will eat through the bolt ) and give the bolt a good soak in a release agent ( WD40 or any penetrating spray ) this will usualy help.......
