Default New Goldwing gets an airbag

On the MCN website

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/nav?pa...NEWS_NEW-BIKES

What's the feeling on this? It looks daft, and also looks like it might be more dangerous than helpful... got me thinking back to the "leg protectors" they wanted on bikes all those years ago.

It could work on the Goldwing. Don't think it would work on much else though.

Looks like a big @ss in your face

Whats to stop you still falling off the bike once its gone off, most injuries on bikes arent caused by riders hitting their heads on the bars and clocks

Whats next,seatbelts?

Stops you from going over the bonnet of the car that just pulled out in front of you and flying headfirst into a lamp post.

But that's not often, is it? (or maybe it is in the US?) most of the time coming off a bike involves coming off at the sides... I'd also be worried about it going off and knocking me off the bike. It's fine in a car where the force of the bag can't push you back, but on a bike you'd at least need a backrest or pillion there to save you getting thrown back.

Then again, if you have a collision with something solid whilst on a goldwing, would *anything* save you?

Exactly what I thought. Get launched backwards by the force of it! Lucky pillions behind you could cushion your fall

If youre on a Goldwing,i feel sorry for whatever youre hitting but no,I dont see an airbag being much of a help in a big smash

Lol when i first saw that i thought it was someone mooning. That would be well fun, you can now add a bit of height to get maximum distance when hurled from your machine

Uhh? Airbags never push you backwards. They inflate before you get to them, stoping you from carring on forwards.

it was a joke!

Id be interested to see how an airbag works on a bike,as in a car youre sat in one position but on a bike you move around in the seat

Couldnt put them on sports bike either,if it went off when youre crouched behind the screen
