TBH i don't use it for anything that's too CPU intensive, i don't even use Skype, so the mini is fine for me. Incidentally despite the lower clock speed I don't think there's a huge difference between the overall speed in the XDA IIs and the Mini, although maybe I'll notice a difference when I start using TomTom which is quite heavy on the processor.
The NVM is a plus for me cos it means i don't lose data if the battery happens to run out (like happened to me on Holiday last year when I couldnt get to a charging point for a couple of days). |

The speed on the new versions only come into question when the memory is used very quickly, such as TomTom, but as the maps are usaly stored on the SD card then its not so bad.
I just like the XDA because of its large screen.

I like the "mini" (or mda compact as T-mobile say).
It has a good size for using as a phone. anything bigger and it would feel uncomfortable i reckon. Overclocking the phone would only drain the battery faster. Instead, you can increase the font glyph cache (read about that here) to increase the speed a tad bit (for the display). My co-worker just got the the one that is the same as the mini but with a slide out keyboard (same size as the mini, just a bit thicker), but i wasn't to impressed with it so i will hold of before i change again. The mini does it all for me still. Next one will have to be one with atleast 640x480 screen res. and 128mb ram and still be a decent size. |

Glad to see you've found the xda-delevopers website - their forums are great. When i had a problem with the XDA IIs, O2's tech support was useless, so I asked on that forum and got it sorted straightaway! I think the O2 Exec / MDA Pro has a proper VGA-res screen, but it's huge, looks more like a laptop than a phone. |
