Default Hamicad Rust!!!!!!!!!!!

Peeps,

Anyone had rusting occuring on their hamicad fender eliminator. Mine seems to have started to peel its black paint and started rusting. I am thinking of getting rid anyway and getting an undertray from the company where you dont have to chop the original. Does anyone have one of these?

Black paint came off on mine pretty easy (well, when installing it mainly) but I got the stainless one so not been troubled by rust. This time of year can't see it for mud anyway, maybe I should get a rear hugger...

Thanks for the info. When you say stainless do you mean un-painted and just in the stainless finish?

Hamicad used to make them from either mild steel or 316 stainless steel. Both were painted black. If yours is rusting I am guessing its mild steel. If you ever tried to drill a hole through it you'd find out if it is stainless or not quick enough, mine was a nightmare to drill.

I see from their website they only do the stainless one now.

Mine was the second edition mild steel and the paint did indeed come off quite readily and then it went rusy.
A hugger won't help much because it mostly sits in the way or the shock and not the undertail of the bike.

Thats just saved me a lot of money, I figured a hugger would stop the problem I'm having now that the whole back of the bike gets covered in mud after a few miles of country riding. If it only protects the shock (which is still pretty clean) I don't think I'll bother.

Mind you, the upside of all this is that I have a totally speed camera resistant numberplate, can't read it at all through the layers of road gunk.
