On the JHS racing site I see this in the 'performance tuning and modifications' section:
"To answer one frequently asked question: we recommend that the best replacement tyres for the Suzuki SV650 are the Avon Viper Sport. We use these on our own racing machines and have found them to deliver exceptional levels of grip and predictable control, very well suited to the SV's handling characteristics." Anyone tried them? Are they more for the track or great on the road as well?? |

I got a set today, not fitted yet though. They're supposed to be very good from what I've heard.

I know Carsick had them and liked them as well and I know Sid Squid has put some on his Kwak but I think he preferred the Conti Road Attacks. If you get them you'll not regret it, they're good! |

Get them if you want something a little sporty.
The rear was dead a few thousand miles ago (got a bit over 4k out of it, but finished it when I started doing motorway miles again) front is still going strong at 7k ish. They really are everything valman said. The only thing that made me nervous that I didn't notice with other tyres is that they really do need scrubbing in properly, all the way to the edge. I never found that with the RAs, but maybe I just rode these harder. I've now got a BT014 rear and I'm disappointed with how long it takes to warm up. It works wonderfully once it is but just takes so much longer than the Viper did. |

Hi Fella's,
Great to see the Viper finally breaking through, cracking result in PB recently also. Anything i can do in terms of fitments or where to buy give me a shout. I may be able to set up a deal just for you lot! I'll be racing an SV in the Irish road races this year on Vipers! (Supersport that is!) Cheers Steve Mc Avon Tyres |

Hi,
Important to be aware that the tyres we are comparing are like for like. I have a chart whichs shows all this which i can email if you like. The Diablo Corsa, Pilot Sport cup and Viper Supersport are like for like. Diablo, Pilot Power and Viper sport are also, like for like. How they compare can be seen in Dec 05 Performance bike tyre test with the Viper SuperSport only being beaten by the 'Race' tyres of the Rennsport and Supercorsa Pro, Michelin declined to comment for some reason? Even though the test wasn't on like for like tyres the Supersport outclassed it's equivalents and some of the higher spec tyres! This is why we are late with the launch of the Xtreme as the Supersport is so good, and we're off to Valencia next month to finalise the compound to make the Xtreme not only a step up from the Supersport but better then the competition. I am so confident in the Supersport i will do you a set at trade through a dealer with a money back offer! Steve Mc Avon Tyres |

Now have the Vipers fitted. Straight away the bike feels much easier to turn and much smoother on the turn in.
Not tested them at decent speeds yet, have only done 50 miles so far and don't want to push them too far yet, especially when the roads are in the state they are at the moment. Plus the tread pattern looks cool :P |
