OK, I have already harder springs (WP) and thicker oil in my fork. What can I more do to improve the suspention of my curvey SV? A gsxr-front end is for me not an option, because I don't have the money to spend it on
![]() Is there some sort of kit, with other cartridges and shims or something like that (correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't know much about the inner of front forks), a kit to install rebount- and compression-screws and last but not least what is the price for those things, if they exsist ![]() greets |

Traxion make a kit that makes the forks into proper cartridge type, but its costs nearly £1000 i think, and you still cannot adjust the compression without removing the unit.
Race Tek make a kit called the Gold Valve kit, thats is ment to be very good and costs sub £150 i think. It get installed inside your forks but still gives you no external adjustments. You are probably best off with the Race Tek kit or just save the money and go for a older RWU gsxr kit that give you all the adjustments that you want.

A would also like to know what else I can do to improve the standard front end, as they're going in these week to be worked on. I need to keep the fork outers as stock, as my aftermarket bodywork and callipers only fit that.
I've got the forks from a 2000 model, but have the adjustable caps and washers to make them adjustable, as per the 2002 model onwards, and have the Ohlins internals kit. What is the best oil I could use, and what else could I do to maximise the performance for road use? Also, can anyone tell me what the difference is between a GSXR front end conversion, and a highly tuned SV front end, in terms of non-racing performance? |

My Ohlins internals kit, i am guessing you mean springs and oil?
Get the Race Tech Gold Valve kit, this will give your forks compression & rebound ajustment (you will have to take the valve out to make adjustments) and is usaly given very good reviews. I beleave it sits just below the spring and the damper rod holes are drilled to make them flow oil and let the Gold Valve kit do all the work. The SV front end is just a simple spring and damper rod setup while the GSXR forks have a cartridge setup which is superior to the damper rod. GSXR forks also have the ability to adjust the preload, rebound and compression all externaly. SV forks as standard only have preload.

Thanx for the information. I asked the price for the Race Tech Kit at my local dealer and waiting for there awnser.
Do you feel a big difference with or without the kit, I mean, is it really worth installing it for that money? I use my bike also for riding on a circuit, so a better fork-setup will be very usefull. ![]() |

Why dont you just buy another bike with better suspension? The SV is a budget bike that in all honesty doesnt warrant spending huge huge amounts of money on the suspension.
Have a look at waht minitwin racers are doing. If its good enough for the track then more than good enough for the road ![]() |

No special tools will be needed. You will have to get some fork oil though to the correct spec as guided by Race Tech.
