Default Supermoto in Lisburn City - CANCELLED!

CIRCUIT CITY
LISBURN city centre will host its first supermoto race in August and it is hoped thousands will turn out to support the inaugural event. The race is being organised by members of Errigal Motorcycle Club and will take place on Saturday, August 5.

The race will start at the Health Centre in Linenhall Street and will attract quad and solo bike riders from all over the UK and Ireland. Organisers anticipate that some 50 riders will take part, including twenty category one UK professional racers.
The circuit will go against the normal one-way system, travelling up Market Street, past the Linen Centre, down Castle Street, down Queen's Road and back to the Health Centre for the finish.

"This is an exciting new event to come to Lisburn, attracting people into the city centre," explained councillor Basil McCrea
"I have been trying to negotiate for such an event to be held in Lisburn for some time. Hopefully this race will be the first of many and will be supported not just by the club but everyone in Lisburn. "This event is a unique opportunity for the City to show people what it has to offer and live up to its city status. I am excited by this new development and hope everyone will enjoy the event."

Welcoming the event local rider and MD of Stoneyford Concrete, Trevor Leckey said: "I have raced in many events all over the UK and Europe but this will be the first time I have been able to race here in Lisburn city centre. "Everyone in the club has been keen to have an event staged here for some time. Hopefully it will lead to a round of the World Championships, which can attract up to 5,000 spectators. "We are hoping to attract top riders to the first race making Lisburn city centre a top rider venue for the future. "Hopefully both participants and spectators will enjoy the event and it can become a fixture on the racing calendar."

The circuit will go against the normal one-way system, travelling up Market Street, past the Linen Centre, down Castle Street, down Queen's Road and back to the Health Centre for the finish.

The pits will also be located at the Health Centre car park.
The event gets underway at 6pm and it is expected to finish around 9.30pm.

Saw it on the news last night.
Looks exciting.

Newtownards held something similar last year around the airfield.

Default Supermoto

It will be a quick run down the road from the Mid Antrim road races to Lisburn. All being well the roads will be opened in time to get to Lisburn for the start of the Supermoto.

Good luck to all racing at the weekend
