Ok so I wanted to balance my carbs yesterday.
I have the balancing tool & everything else needed. SO I removed the airbox - looked at the front vacuum connection on the carb - ![]() No way I was going to fiddle with this! Here is what I did: When I looked closely at the carbs I noticed that there is a fuel stream around the pins. (The front one had a lot stronger stream than the back one) The adjustment screw needed 2 full turns - then the fuel stream looked the same on both pins. Tested the throttle response ![]() So I was happy with that & put it all back together. The bike feels a lot more responsive again. I know it's not 100% accurate balanced but it's close enough for me ![]() |

If you don’t have gauges or want to faff then the ‘lolly-stick’ method is logical and almost foolproof ![]() I can’t be bothered to type/explain it, but I am sure a brief search on the net would bring up details ![]() PatrickUK, it sounds like what you did is change the idle mixture. ![]() |

I've never had to turn any adjuster more than about 1/2 turn to ballence carbs or throttle bodies, and never done it visually. You may want to check the screw you were using

Yes I used the right screw...
I have all the instructions but just couldn't be bothered with attaching the carb balancing tool - looking at the front carb connection. |

I did mine by ear and by feel a few times as an emergency measure, as I ekpt on failing to buy a set of gauges. OK, not actually an emergency at all
