Default more power please

Help my sv needs more power
Can anybody out there please give me some advice,I am looking to give my SV a power boost but i am not sure what route to take.
I was going to put a stage 1 dyno jet kit on it with a can ,CRESCENT SUZUKI. say no its to much bother to set up and would need constant attention, i have also looked at an 880cc re-bore with can and on the extreme side i have been told that a TL 1000 lump will go straight ,is this true.

Or do i sweet talk the wife and buy the sv1000

No the TLS engine is not a straight swap, a fair bit of modding is needed along with the loom and radiator.

If you are looking for a power hike then get a larger bike, the SV1000 or the TLS/TLR.

if you sweet talk her ive got an sv1000z for sale (shameless plug)

Depends what you want to do really mate, whats insurance like on a tuned or bored out 650 etc etc, would you be just uprating the engine or other things too?

Yup, tuning a wee bike for power never makes as much sense as buying a bigger one. And that's from someone with an 80(DJ)rwbhp SV650

Not much point in fitting a jet kit unless you're doing serious work, that's good from Crescent to say as much too, lot of shops would have just done it.

Default what to do

I was looking to completly restyle the bike from more power to new body work piant, powder coating, make it differant.
Alot of my mates think im mad but im not a speed freek i will sit at 70 on the motorway but as soon as i get onto the back roads i need a bike that will make me feel good and the sv does that we all get to love our bikes for differant reasons and i love the sv but i need just a little more power and to make her stand out.

Sounds familiar I could've afforded a Mille in good nick, or a last-gen GSXR thou, or all sorts of others for what I've spent on the SV, but it suits my riding down to the ground now, so for me it makes sense. Plus, it's nice to have a bike I'm not afraid to break

Well, look for the thread "working on an SV", should still be on P1. I wrote an essay Personally I decided against big-bores for mine, but that's just my opinion... Loads you can do though. I always say this, but suspension pays off better than power on the SV- the engine's a nice package out of the box, while the suspension's pretty poor. My GSXR front end cost me much less to do than my full system, filter and jetting, but it's made far more difference to the feel and the use of the bike, to me. I'm sure it'd show in lap times too, if it weren't for the fact that my lap times are set more by my cowardice

I think as long as you're able to do the work yourself, tuning the SV is cost effective. If you need someone else to do the work for you it's better to get a more powerful machine as standard. I think, as has been said, it'll be cheaper in the long run.

Mmm... I'm comparing it with going and getting a SRAD 600 or something, to be fair But if you compare like for like, putting an extra 10bhp into a brand new SV650 makes it cost about as much as JimmyNumbers paid for his brand new thou, and you still have inferior suspension and drastically less power. It'll have cost you, oh, call it 30 hours less too.

Plus, insurance is a fiddle- there's only 2 companies in the UK that'll insure my mods. Loads will cover me but just with OEM replacement. It roughly doubled my insurance last year, this year I'm not sure but I'm on agreed value now so it's apples and oranges.

Playing devil's advocate here obviously "I did the cam swap and it's ace, but don't do it because it makes no sense" "GSXR front end? Strictly for idiots. And me, obviously."

But when I say "Don't respray it yourself" that's from the heart
