Too much air??????????
![]() With the filter fitted, it allows a certain amount of air through to the engine and you know the fuel/air ratio has to be correct to ensure the engine isn't running lean/rich. Removing the air filter and running it is a bit silly, why on earth did you do that? Would be letting in far too much air.... ![]() |

Not a good idea, that. If you didn't alter the fuelling it would've been running WAY too lean. Not to mention crap getting into the engine.
How many runs did you do? Fingers crossed you've not done any serious damage. |

Been sitting on this one since I first saw it.
Apologies in advance for the upcoming rant - it is fuelled by the fact that I have a mate with 2 broken wrists (Periditite on this forum btw tho I dont think he posts/reads much). He borrowed a mates ZZR while in New Zealand (where hes from - had to rush back on Christmas Day for a family emergency). Seems it has a non-standard and non-ZZR shock on it, which raised the back end of the bike, and so decreased the rake - the angle that the forks are away from vertical. Upshot is he hit a rock on the road, got himself a tankslapper for the trouble, and has 2 broken wrists, one plated the other wired. Still looking forwards to getting back to the UK and getting his SV from his cousins garage (was Trampies old SV :P ) and getting out on it. This "accident" was caused, in my opinion, by the modifications to the bike - probably the guy that installed it didnt consider the effect on the front end of his modification. Of course this opinion is only due to the fact that I was reading up on bike suspension, and learned about rake etc, could be that I am just talking junk, but my mate thinks similar to I do about the cause of the tankslapper. I guess what I am trying to say, is that if you dont know fully what doing somthing to your bike will do, then ask before you do, and ask someone who you know will have an answer you know is an honest evaluation - I really dont want to read about someone doing some mod then hurting themself.
