Hi all - first post so please be gentle...
![]() I have the opportunity to purchase a SV650s and just wanted some of your opinions as to what to purchase. I have the option of a: Silver 02 curvy 3000miles full service history excellent condition Aftermarket can alphadot. £2300 Or Silver 04 Pointy 12000 miles full service history excellent condition aftermarket exhaust. £2600 I hope I've not opened up a can of worms over the curvy and pointy, I would just value your opinions/advice etc. I'm really looking forward to meeting some of you lot soon. Cheers |

From a personal point of view, Curvey all the way. Suzuki pretty much 'dumbed down' the manufacturing process to make the Pointy 'cheaper'. (The 02 bike would have cost more new than a brand new SV today)
People may go on about the fuel injection on the new SV. It is rubbish and was only introduced for emission regulations. |

Curvy..... less electronics to go wrong. Going back to the roots of biking, if it breaks down you can fix it with a broken coathanger & some chewing gum
![]() ![]() ![]() But I am bias cos I ride a curvy ![]()

pointy for reliability and better specs/looks, but you'll properly find more people will say curvy cos theres more curvys than pointy's and there not gonna say a different bike to what they have are they? i dont think Suzuki would go backwards would they?

Well I have two curvys, so I have no idea... Not much difference to worry about, there are little things that I think make the curvy easier to work on. I'd go with the one that you like the look of. Other then shape they are pretty much the same bike.
The only thing I will say is this... all the 99-02 bikes are the same (very minor differences) so all parts can be swap and fitted as needed, I know as I have a 99 and a 01. Where as from what I have read, from 03 to 07 there have been a lots of revisions, so parts that you think would fit all bikes may not. Last edited by Grinch; 19-09-07 at 08:37 AM. |

Yes, Suzuki is a business. It is called economics. I have owned both Pointy and Curvey. The Curvey is actually a better bike than the Pointy imo, as strange as that might be. |

What better spec? Certainly not the fuel injection. The frame on the Curvey is a much better design. Hence the cost cutting frame on the pointy.
